Important Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some jurisdictions have allowed some flexibility in creating virtual events to issue CPE credit. However, we highly recommend reaching out to your state board or following NASBA's guidance regarding the CPE requirements and the acceptance of CPE events that are changing due to the current circumstances: https://www.nasbaregistry.org/impact-of-covid-19
1. Standard tools to record your programs
Zoom, GoToWebinar, or Webex Training are the most used tools to teach an online program. These platforms all have similar features, including polling and reporting. All three seamlessly integrate with Prolaera, but Zoom and GoToWebinar are the most popular options we’ve seen.
Pro-tip: A PowerPoint slide show can be a simple and powerful way to provide quality training to your employees if you don't have access to any of the mentioned platforms above. Learn how to record a PowerPoint slide show with narration and slide timings here. You can then save your presentation as an mp4 file that can be easily uploaded into any course in Prolaera.
Other video screen capture software you can use: Camtasia or Snagit from Techsmith
2. Segment your video to fit Prolaera's self-study template
Now that you've successfully recorded your training program, you'll need to cut-up each hour of the course (1 CPE = 50 minutes) into three or four Modules as we refer to them in our course template. You can either save the recordings into segments or save the entire video and then use a video editor (e.g., Camtasia) to break up the course into sections to allow for a mandatory quiz (also referred to as knowledge or attendance check).
3. Create a Self-Study Course
In Prolaera, our self-study course template is built to the NASBA standards, which require three or four quiz questions, including "Evaluative Feedback" to help the learner understand why they've answered correctly or incorrectly. These are similar to the "polls" in your webinar tool, but they are an actual quiz and are supposed to relate to the content in the preceding module.
The last piece is the Final Quiz, which is graded at 70% or better automatically. You'll also need five final quiz questions per CPE-hour.
